For years the rumour of a makeover for this ride have been in circulation. Not unjustifiably, this ride was in a poor state and a bit of an embarrassment for a park of Thorpe Park's stature. Well on my most recent visit it was apparent the ride has had a bit of work done, which has improved the ride.

The area where this is most noticeable is the walkthrough area before the ride, which has a fresh coat of paint, and some mood setting lights put in. This may not sound like much, but it's a big improvement to the shabby interior it used to have, and it helps raise expectations of the ride before you ride it.

The main ride hasn't had that much work done. There are some new lights on the hill lift, but after that it's a similar idea to before. The amount of light in the building has been set well though, to allow you to see enough to get some idea whats going on and get some sense of moving at speed, but still being dark enough to add some excitement from not knowing what's coming next.

The pauses where the train stops and a few effects happen are still there, but the train manages a good pace, even with these pauses, so they don't disrupt the flow of the ride too badly. Overall I would say this coaster is of a respectable standard. It's a long way off from ranking up there with the best enclosed coasters (although with the loss of Alton Tower's Black Hole and Blackpool's Space Invader it's one of the best left in the UK) but it's a worthwhile way to kill a bit of time.
