Thanks to  Sam Winslade for writing this review for me.

Every time I go to Thorpe Park there is never much of a queue for this ride. With a lot of other tower rides out there it's one that's easy to overlook, and it's one I underestimated.

I thought it didn't look that tall but I was wrong, when you start going up it feels like it takes a century, then when your up the 100ft tower you can see most of the park and you can't help but be feeling scared, then the countdown starts, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Detonation! When you drops it makes you feel weightless as your legs are flying all over the place.

The theming it  is based on a pirate attack with the buildings around Detonator painted to look like they've been attacked by cannons, but that has really been lost with the removal of pirates 4D. If you go during the special Halloween fright nights there's an interesting variation.  It starts as normal but once the rider is at the top, a young child sings "Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall".  Then the riders fall back down to the ground. Don't underestimate what is a highly scary and intense ride.
