At first
glance this does appear to be a low level family ride. It's a big roundabout
style attraction with a few small sea storm style undulations in it's
structure, that's been colourfully themed as an Oriental dragon, not the
sort of ride you'd expect that much from. I've been on similar rides before
and they've never been more than filler attractions.
This version
though manages to bring more to the table. It doesn't come from the
undulating bumps. You hardly notice these when you ride, they're more a
visual spectacle, where the segments of Dragon move up and down. The
excitement comes from the speed at which you spin. This creates a surprising
amount of G-force as you spin round, causing you to slide right to the
outside of your seat.
The only
problem I had was I found it a little uncomfortable, with the plastic
moulding going in to my back, but I suspect this is because I'm close to 6
foot tall, and the main market of this ride is for someone a lot shorter
than me. This problem aside this is a nicely decorated, fun thrill ride for
the younger end of the family market. |
