Troublesome Trucks

Imagine the scene. You wait in a large group, outside a fibreglass house, before being taken into a truck. In this truck you see a poor video, apparently from the last team to enter the house who have disappeared, (along with there camera and editing crew, and there acting coaches who must have disappeared a long time ago.) You step into the house where the last team disappeared when suddenly: "Oh My God, A Cliché!"

Welcome to the Haunting, the theme parking equivalent of a bad horror movie. To be fair on my most recent visit it was noticeable a few improvements had been made. Perhaps showing it is possible to polish a turd. The pre show area has seen some of the models improve slightly, so they're not quite as laughable, and there are a few other new features in this area. Unfortunately these improvements aren't enough to turn it around. This area still fails to create the spooky atmosphere it tries to achieve, but it's moved away slightly from being funny for the wrong reasons.

The main improvements have been made to the haunted swing finale. One change I didn't like was the addition of some sort of themed tomb in the centre. Although it's not a bad model, it's quite tall, and blocks the view in some seats, spoiling the enjoyment of the haunted swing section.

The rest of the new features such as paint that only becomes visible when UV lights come on and a few other surprises do enhance the ride, and make it seem like a bit of effort has been made to put on a show in the swing section. It's still not that great a ride, but it's now one that is worth going on if you have time, and the queue isn't that big.
