A brief
history lesson. (no don't click the back button.) The first incarnation of
this ride was a coaster called the Velvet coaster, so called because the
seats where upholstered with, you guessed it, velvet. It was one of
Blackpool's first coasters built in 1909. When a new road was needed the
Velvet Coaster had to be taken down. however parts of it where salvaged to
create this incarnation, built in 1933.
As woodys go this one doesn't stick out in my mind in any great way. It's
behind the Grand National, and Big Dipper in terms of excitement and
thrills, and it never seems to reach a speed high enough to get the most out
of the bumps and corners.
It's not a bad ride, but it doesn't produce anything memorable. |
