Way back in 1905 Blackpool Pleasure Beach installed the River Caves, a
scenic ride that depicts scenes from around the world. In 2011 they got a
new scenic ride called Dora's World Voyage that depicts scenes from around
the world. Don't you love it when things come full circle.
On my most recent visit some changes had been made, where the dinosaurs from
the old river caves in Southport had been added to an early scene. They do
fit in very well with the ride, making a good start to it.
As you'd expect for a ride built in 1905 it is reminiscent of the style of
the time. The spectacular scenes showing you the wonders of the world are
reminiscent of some of the exhibitions you might have seen at the world
fairs and dime museums of that era.
Despite
being over a century old this ride holds up today. It's still both a fun and
entertaining ride as you view the various scenes. This ride has been
offering a great experience for generations, and I don't see any reason it
won't continue to for generations to come.
