Given my interest in historic rides it is surprising that I only got around to riding this recently. It got overlooked as another chair swing variant, which wasn't a priority ahead of the other great rides at the Pleasure Beach. It is a very historical ride, built in 1904 it's the oldest ride in the park, and although many similar rides exist this is one of a few remaining authentic examples of of one of the world's earliest thrill rides.

Another distinction that is rare for a thrill ride, is that most of the queue is within the rides footprint. You climb some stairs to a platform in the centre, where you can see the ride going around you in the queue. You also get some good views of the rides in the area around it, which for me included a longing glance at Noah's Ark.

For a ride I perceived as a family thrill ride it packs a surprising punch. It moves around at a fast speed, which makes it a more thrilling experience than you initially think. The real thrill though comes from how high up your flying, and how steep an angle you tilt at. It doesn't look that bad from the ground, but once your up there moving at speed, even though you feel secure in your seat it's still very disconcerting.

Now I've ridden this I realise I made a big mistake by overlooking this ride so much. I've never known the queue for this ride to get that bad so it's a ride it's very unlikely I'll skip on future visits.
