Compared to a
lot of other prominent amusement parks in this country Adventure
Islands ride set is pretty modern. There are no classic coasters, and not
that many of the traditional classic style rides either. However it does
have a few nods to history like the Crooked House, the Gold Mine and this
ride. A whip is a big oval, with 2 tight u-turns at the end of 2 long
straits. A large chain rotates round the oval and tows the ride gondolas
round with it. The main thrill of the ride come from when the gondolas whip
(hence the name) around the corners at the end of the ride, creating a
surprisingly notable amount of g-force.
In terms of comparison when compared to other thrill rides it feels more
like a novelty ride, rather than anything else. A nice distraction to try
once, and revel in the nostalgia, but not something you'll prioritise over
some of the other rides in the park. |
