Going to the Poles
Part 4: Park Szczesliwicki
|
|
|
|
When
we had a few spare hours in Warsaw we decided to head over to Park
Szczesliwicki to try out the Alpine Coaster located there. To get there
we used the local tram system. To use a tram you need to buy your
ticket in advance, by going to one of the kiosks found around the City
where you can buy a ticket which you must then validate in the machine
on the tram when you start your journey. It's best to buy several
tickets in advance, at least making sure you have enough for a return
journey.
To get to Park Szczesliwicki we got tram 9 from the Centrum area where
the central train station and Centrum Metro station are in a Westerly
direction to a stop called Dickensa. From there it's about a 15 minute
walk North-West along the road to the park where the alpine coaster is.

|

The alpine coaster is
part of this ski center, complete with chairlift and dry ski slope. To
ride you need to go in to the main building to buy your tickets in
advance.
|
|

This ride is a complete circuit, so it's one I would count as a roller coaster.

|
|

The rides first main
element is this double helix. Thanks to it's location high up the hill,
and above all the trees it's pretty scary as it feels very high up.

After the two helixes the track follows the ground through the bushes.

Another helix on the way down.

The last corner before the rides final section.
|
|

This final section is the
rides hi-light, where if your brave enough to stay of the breaks you
can achieve one of the fastest out of control sensations I've
experienced on any roller coaster. This section and the scary start is
enough to make this a must do for a coaster enthusiast visiting Warsaw.
