My Top 10 Percent Coasters

What is a coaster count? Well it's where a roller coaster enthusiast counts the number of coasters they've done. I started mine back in 2002, and is something I would recommend for anyone interested in theme parks and roller coasters. Doing this has lead to me doing rides, and even some parks which I enjoyed quite a lot, that I wouldn't have done if not pursuing a higher coaster count.

If working out the number of coasters you've done sounds daunting there are some good sites to try. There's Coaster-Count.com and Coaster Counter.com, both are sites which help you work out your coaster count, and the Roller Coaster Database, also contains a list of past and present roller coasters. You may not get every one you've done. I know that when I celebrate a landmark count (such as my 100th) it's like celebrating the Queens birthday. There's the official one which I celebrate, and my actual 100th which I can't be certain which one it is. I've remembered at least 2 extra coasters that weren't on my count but I did before my 100th.

There is quite a bit of debate on the subject of coaster counting, on what you do and don't include in your count, and how many you count some rides have, for instance; if you've ridden both versions of the Vampire is that 1 or 2 coasters? Do you count multiple copies of the same track layout? Do you count hybrid rides like water coasters, or how about multi level ghost trains with coasting sections? I don't want to go into this too much. You might disagree with some of the decisions I've made, but really this isn't what this feature is about.

I hope you enjoy this feature and hope I can encourage people to do their own counts and have fun doing it.
