Numbers 1 to 50

This is the first 50 coasters that I rode. Unfortunately I am unsure of the exact order of coasters up to number 43 so for those I have tried to put them in rough order, but I seem to see at least 1 coaster I should change the place of every time I look at it, I've labelled them all 1-43 to account for this fact.
I've also put an extra number in brackets. This number is the coaster count of English roller coasters I've ridden, as I thought it would be interesting to keep track of that in this log as well.

The 4 Man Bob

This brings back a lot of nostalgic memories. Back to when I first went to Alton Towers. I was only 10 at the time, and it was during a camping holiday in the Peak and Lake district.

The Alton Mouse
Alton Towers

This was before Nemesis and even the Runaway Mine Train. The main coaster area of the park was Festival park (Now Ug Land) that had 4 coasters in it. The only one of these still there now is the corkscrew.

This was the first time I visited a foreign theme park. I was very impressed with this great mine train coaster and it became (and still is) one of my favourite roller coasters.

The Grand National
Blackpool Pleasure Beach

My first trip to Blackpool was a bit of a wash out. We made the mistake of visiting during the off season (we were taking advantage of a special offer on cheap accommodation). The park was only open for a few hours, and a lot of the rides were not running.

The Steeplechase
Blackpool Pleasure Beach

It was a year or two later before we got around to visiting Blackpool in a slightly busier time with longer opening times, and most of the rides operating, and got to enjoy the park properly.

Dreamland has had 2 roller coasters called the Looping Star. This was the first version, that was taken down and replaced.

Sadly it could happen that the whole park is retired. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this won't happen and that the park can be saved.

Lightwater Valley

At the time I first rode this one it was still the worlds longest roller coaster. (It's now been beaten, although not by a large amount.) This was a big draw for us, and is why we went up to visit Lightwater Valley and Flamingo Island.

The Thunder Looper
Alton Towers

This ride is based on such a simple concept. Where your speeded through a loop, then reverse back around it. A simple idea but it was incredibly thrilling. Of all the rides that have been removed or relocated in this country I think this is the one I miss the most.

Nemesis
Alton Towers

This is the ride which I feel revolutionized theme parks and roller coasters in this country, and had a big influence across the world. Before this there where great rides about, but nothing this thrilling or advanced had been built in this country. It's still one of my all time favourite rides over 10 years since I first rode it.

Oblivion
Alton Towers

The next big ride Alton Towers opened was Oblivion. Another great thrilling ride, although it was not up to the standards of Nemesis.

Hershey Park (U.S.A.)

We did go on a trip to the U.S.A. as a combined site seeing and visiting friends and family holiday. During this time we did spend a day at Hershey Park and managed to ride a couple of coasters. This one and the Wild Cat, which did become one of my favourite wooden Coasters, (although it moved down in the ranks a lot after my visit to Scandinavia.)

Rutschebanen
Tivoli Gardens (Denmark)

This was the start of the coolest coaster tour (which accounts for the next 22 coasters). This was a great holiday where we rode some great rides, and there was a great atmosphere. The hospitality of the Scandinavian parks really impressed us.

Dog Fart
Bonbon Land (Denmark)

At the time I hadn't started counting coasters yet so didn't know
this was officially my 50th coaster, although I know of two more now I did before this which would make it the Mine Train Ulven. It's not a world class quality coaster, although it is infamous for it's bizarre theming.
If you don't want your 50th coaster to be themed around a farting dog start your count now.
