Day 7

The main ride of the Ancient Greece area is a splash boat ride called Odyssey Trip.

It has two very wet drops, plus a number of water jets to soak you towards the end. The very definition of excessive.

Obviously I wanted a rain Mac for this. The trouble was I left my good one at the hotel. The park had some, but they were the cheapest looking ones I'd ever seen (to be fair they only cost about 50p) which didn't look like they would make the trip. Just as I thought I'd have to make do, I was searching for my wallet my hand felt something. Five years ago I visited a park in Denmark called Fårup Sommerland for the opening of their new coaster called the Falken, during which they were giving out a number of freebies like T-Shirts and rain Macs.

Since then I kept it in my bag for emergencies, only to forget about it during emergencies, until today. This meant I had a decent mac to protect me from the worst of the soaking. Well done to Fårup Sommerland for proving a good deed really can travel halfway around the world.

Next I headed to the OCT theatre, which is just outside the park, but does have an entrance in the park, and an area where guests can buy tickets for today's show at a reduced rate. The show I saw was called the Golden Mask Dynasty. The best show I've seen not just in any park, but in any theatre. It has some elements of Beijing Opera, combined with some amazing special effects.

When I visited I didn't realise the park was going to be open late for a special Halloween party, which turned out to be a major added bonus.

The park was spectacularly lit up at night.

Sadly most of the major rides weren't open. I would have loved to have been able to have ridden Crystal wings and Golden Wings after dark.

Despite the main rides being closed the Halloween event was still great fun. The park had a large number of live actors in costume around the park providing entertainment, plus the park had a great atmosphere lit up at night.
