The
Eastern Discovery Tour
Day 2 |
|
|
|

If you've been to Florida you might recognise
that big Dome from a certain Disney park. This reminds me of a story in
the news from a few years back when this park had costumed characters
similar to the Disney characters, and Disney threatened legal action. |
|

The park is split in two by a railway line,
with a big bridge crossing over it. You cross from the (nothing like)
Epcot Dome, to the (nothing like) Main Street area. It's not that
unusual to take inspiration from Disney when theming a ride, but I can't
think of anywhere else that's done it to such an extent. It will be
interesting to see what happens to these areas. At the back of the park
are some newer areas with a more original theme, which are a lot better.
In the long term I think the park would benefit to bringing the whole
park up to this standard. |
|

Speaking of copies of rides this one is a copy
of some of the suspended looping coasters made by Vekoma. A Chinese
company has copied the technology used to, and designed their own layout
for it. |
|

Sadly this was the third roller coaster of the
day that was out of commission. Don't worry though, I will be reporting
on some roller coasters shortly. |
|

See! |
|

This is a Chinese interpretation of a Big
Apple coaster, which is different from all the versions I've ridden in
the West. It has the same drop layout, of a bumpy piece of track, plus a
big drop, but instead of a figure of 8 track layout it follows a wild
mouse style layout, where the corners do big U-turns towards the
station. |
|

Next I tried out a Chinese Matterhorn, that
was a pretty tame ride compared to the Western versions of this ride
I've done. |
|

Speaking of Chinese copies of Western rides,
this is a copy of a Top Scan thrill ride that appears at a lot of
Chinese amusement parks. It's just as thrilling as some of the Western
versions I've done. |
|

This ride on the other hand is one I've only
seen in a Chinese park. It's a pretty tame ride that rocks back and
forth on the big curve of track. What makes it of note is the lack of
restraints, all you get to hold you in is a lap belt. |
|

After that is was my second Chinese spinning
mouse in two days. |
