The
Eastern Discovery Tour
Day 2 |
|
|
|

After leaving the Forbidden City I got the
metro (line 1) to Bajio Station. From their it's a short walk to
Shijingshan amusement park. One warning about the metro here, there's no
way of getting from one platform to another in the station itself,
meaning when you head back to the metro you have to cross to the other
side of the road to use the opposite entrance to the one you used
arriving. |
|

One of the first rides I did was this rally
car ride. It is a really long go kart style track, that goes around the
circumference of the South-East section of the park. Instead of a
Go-Kart you drive in a larger 2 person car around the circuit. |
|

There are some great examples of theming
around Shijingshan park, including this ticket office and queue entrance
for the rapids ride. |
|

This leads to a great rapids ride that goes
around the river at a fast pace, in a nicely themed area. |
|

One of the fast S-bends on the rapids course. |
|

In the same area of the rapids is the Mine
Coaster, which is a copy of the ride also called the Mine Coaster I did
at Sun Park yesterday. |
|

Unfortunately it was out of commission with a
technical fault today. |
|

Above the Mine Coaster is this big tower with
a zip line down it. I was in two minds about doing this, then I
accidently brought a ticket for this when trying to get a ticket for
another ride, so decided to go through with it.
This would be a good ride for a family park to use as a pay extra
attraction, as it's something they could justify charging extra for, and
is something you can feel daring doing. It's thrilling, but isn't so
intimidating or scary to be unsuitable for a family thrill seeker. |
|

This is a shuttle loop coaster, where your
lifted up the lift, then go backwards through the station and the loop,
then up the spike of track, before going back in the opposite direction.
It wasn't working on this visit, but as I discovered on day 9 this
wasn't such a bad thing. |
|

Further in to the park was the American
Adventure. It's an interactive dark ride with an odd mixture of themes.
Most of it is a cowboy theme, but for some reason the first part of the
ride is themed as an African Jungle. Sadly the gun game aspect didn't
work that well, nor was the theming that great, meaning this is a ride
you could easily skip. |
