Signature
Coaster: Intamin Wooden Roller Coaster
Over the last few years there have been a lot of developments in wooden
roller coasters, yet it's something that has been missing from the
British market, making it a good choice for a signature coaster. I would
want an Intamin one, as they made my all time wooden coaster Balder at
Liseberg, as well as some other great wooden coasters such as Colossos
at Heide-Park and T Express at Everland.
Major Ride: Family
Wooden Roller Coaster
I decided early on that I wanted two major signature wooden coasters,
and also a family wooden coaster located somewhere within the park. At
first I wanted all 3 wooden coasters to be in different areas of the
park. As I started to work things out though I found the main area I had
a place free for a family coaster was here. On reflection this isn't a
bad idea, as it would create some potentially good ideas for theming,
and if both rides come close to each other it would make both rides more
exciting.
Major Water Ride:
White Water West Spinning Rapids Ride
I decided that I should have at least one water ride in every major
area. I think this will help ensure there's at least one good family
ride in each area. Here I've opted for a
White Water West spinning
rapids ride. This would be a good ride I think because it's a good fun
family ride, and is unlike anything currently located in Britain, so
would be a good draw for the park.
Major Support Ride:
Giant Fun House
I decided that I wanted each area to have some sort of enclosed dark
ride. Either a major one, as one of the areas main attractions, or one
on a smaller scale as a major support ride. I'm a big fan of fun houses
so decided I wanted at least one large fun house style attraction. To
work in a park this size it would need to be a large scale one. An
example that springs to mind is the one in Gröna Lund in Stockholm,
Sweden. They have a large scale one with a capacity of over 1500 people
an hour, so I'd like something of that scale and capacity with a theme
to match the area.
Major Support Ride:
Set of 4 Mondial Capriolos
The Capriolo is a variation on the booster ride, and is my personal
favourite variation. It also has the advantage that all 8 passengers sit
at the same end of the arm, leading to a faster loading time than a
standard booster. Despite this 8 people per ride cycle won't be enough.
What I'd like to do is set up four of them close to one another, to
raise the capacity to 32. I'd want all 4 to use the same queue entrance,
with the queue splitting if necessary later on. Ideally I'd have them to
all be loaded and run at the same time, so they can all be run from one
control booth in order to keep operational costs down.
Support Rides:
One of the support rides is a pirate ship, near the Capriolos and the
Spinning Rapids Ride. A large capacity pirate ship would fit the theme
well, and make a good additional family thrill ride for the area.
The other support rides are a group of four rides (a Polyp, a Chance
Wipeout, a Seastorm and a Jet Ride) I've placed to both compliment the
kids ride area, and to help absorb some of the crowds around the two
wooden coasters.
Kids Attractions:
In order to ensure a family appeal I decided I wanted at least one group
of attractions in each area aimed at the toddler and infant market. Here
I've dedicated a large area to allow for up to 8 themed kids rides to be
built, probably including a small dark ride.
Horrible Histories
Museum:
One thing I want to do in each area is allowed for some attractions and
things to do you can do just by walking around, without having to queue.
The Horrible Histories theme comes in useful here as in each area I'd
build a small museum style area. In keeping in with the books there will
be a lot of emphasis on entertainment as well as education.
Special Events
Area:
In each area I've included a small area for special events, such as
ghost houses for Halloween, or special entertainment or attractions
during the summer months, or during the Christmas period. |
